Development overview

Kenstone Barns are set in a splendid rural setting just outside Hawkstone with its mysterious legends and unusual follies, Hawkstone Park is one of Britian’s most fascinating destinations but its story really begins almost 800 years ago.

In 1227 Henry de Audley, Sheriff of Shropshire and Staffordshire, built a sandstone castle on a natural outcrop of rock that was flanked on all sides by wide valleys. De Audley himself was Lord of the Welsh Marches and constable of Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury.

To this day Hawkstone is an incredibly desirable park is now Grade I listed and draws in about 60,00 visitors a year. The park is also home to Hawkstone Golf Club which boasts two 18 – hole courses, all set in 400 acres of parkland which has the spectacular medieval ruins, cliffs and the 18th Century follies as a backdrop. The golf course and the follies are 2 minutes away from Kenstone Barns by car.
