On Saturday 18th May, Shingler Group held their annual Apprenticeship Experience Day at our Boreatton Fields development in Baschurch. The nineteen candidates who applied for our Apprenticeship Program were invited to take part in three workshops run by our former Apprentices and experienced Tradesman.

The workshops included:

  • Brickwork
  • Carpentry
  • Groundwork’s

The candidates were split into groups and shown various skills from each trade, including constructing a brick wall, laying block paving, and creating carpentry mitered joints.

After a breakfast break of bacon and sausages sandwiches supplied by Moor Farm Shop and informal interviews, Jeremy and Jonathan Shingler gave the candidates a guided tour of our Boreatton Fields development, where they were shown various stages of the build process, and items used in the construction of a property.

Each candidate was scored on their enthusiasm, ability, attitude, and communication, with the top scoring five being invited to our Head Office in Myddle for a formal interview. The successful applicants will go on to do our four year Apprenticeship Program, which includes a year experiencing bricklaying, carpentry, groundwork and assisting the Aftercare Team, then proceeding to do a level 2 qualification in their chosen trade at Shrewsbury Colleges Group.
